Hold fast, beloved offspring! The war continues … but victory will come as we hold to the promise found within the triumph we have seen in the Battle for Christmas!

Mary and Joseph were reminded once again their home was a refuge for God incarnate. Yet, behind the curtain the plot thickened as the battle for Christmas inched closer and closer to their doorstep. 

Yes, the reason for Christmas had come but the enemy was still scheming. His plan would soon unfold as an earthly dragon would emerge to devour the infant king. 

All is calm, all is bright as a star sheds light on a stable where the infant king is sleeping. The breeze of the cool night air brings with it a gentle melody singing while the livestock in their pens echo sounds of praise. Did they know royalty was before them? 

Silence blanketed the land of Judah, but this hushed moment did not bring peace. The stillness that plagued the land was deafening as God’s voice had vanished.

The enemy shrieked in horror as the one he used for his bidding hung from the noose. He has been played the fool once again, as defeat strangled his plan. The battle is not quite as easy as it seemed, for God is always working towards victory.

Although a king from the tribe of Judah would not reign again in Jerusalem, the hope of an eternal kingdom is restored! God’s plan would continue, for the enemy cannot prevail against one so holy as the Battle for Christmas contends for victory! 

The plan to destroy God’s people is working without much effort from the Prince of Darkness. I can only imagine his grimace as the end of Judah’s reign begins to unfold. 

The daily taunts of the enemy brought the Israelite camp to their knees. Even the king, who was described as a man, “head and shoulders above the rest,” found himself shrinking in the shadow of this giant.

The battle for Christmas seemed over for God’s people are paralyzed with dread. Yet, in a field caring for sheep, a young boy would begin his preparation to step into his calling with courage. A battle would soon take place and God’s people would once again be found victorious.

The obedience of Abraham was necessary in order for a greater sacrifice be experienced. The ritual sacrifices from the past were now felt deeply in his soul for he knew what it truly meant for an animal to be his substitute as the blood of the ram spilled out on the altar for his sin. 

A garden enveloped with peace is transformed into a world entrenched in war. The promise brings into focus a battle in which the serpent will be crushed while the seed of the woman is wounded.Wounded … yet, victorious!
